55 car photographs on this site come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under Creative Commons or public-domain terms. Each one is credited to its photographer below, with a link to the original file and the licence it is published under.
Files are hosted on our own servers rather than linked from Commons, as Wikimedia asks. Models without a suitably licensed photograph use an original illustration drawn for this site instead.
If you are the author of an image here and want the credit corrected or the image removed, tell us and we will act on it promptly.

Manufacturer Logos
Brand logos are used to identify each manufacturer’s own vehicles. Their copyright status and their trademark status are two different questions — see the note below the table.

Copyright is not trademark
Every logo above is free of copyright — most car marks are simple enough to fall below the threshold of originality, so they sit in the public domain. That is what the licence column records.
Trademark is a separate right and remains fully in force. We display these marks under nominative fair use: to identify the manufacturer’s own vehicles, at no larger a size than that requires, and with nothing implying sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement. Logos never appear in our own branding, header or site icon.
If you represent a rights holder and want a mark removed, write to us through the contact form and we will take it down and revert to a plain initials badge.
About these licences
- CC BY — free to use commercially, provided the author is credited.
- CC BY-SA — the same, plus any adapted version of the image must be shared under the same licence. We display these images unmodified apart from resizing.
- CC0 / Public domain — no conditions attached. We credit the author anyway.
